C2 Montreal | Montreal Event Photographer

I finally had the chance to cover the C2 Montreal (or C2MTL for you people who are too lazy to type) event last week. Three days and over 40 hours of scheduled photography. I find it odd that such a big and innovative event is still somewhat unknown when I mention it to people in my circle. What is C2 Montreal?  Well, from their own website, here is their definition.

C2 brings together Commerce and Creativity to explore trends, opportunities, disruptions and major shifts on the horizon. Every year, this is where more than 6,500 decision makers and creative minds unite to collectively shape, experience, and challenge the future of business.

Essentially, a butt load of people from all walks of business and creative life coming together to exchange ideas. When you go through the photos you have taken and you realize that Kirk Muller (ex- Montreal Canadiens captain) just happens to be walking by talking on his cell, it is that type of event. From federal ministers, innovators, field experts and generally people way more intelligent than they should be. This, in a half outdoor, half indoor type of setting, with beautiful weather, original installations and a big artsy flare.

No water bottles sold on site, only refillable bottles allowed.  More and more events are aiming to be as green as possible, and this is a good thing.  Encouraging the use of public transportation, recycling as much as possible (even the event badges can be left at the end of the conference to be recycled)  And the event badge also acts as a networking tool where you can build a list of contacts you made by simply clicking your pass on someone else’s (or if you are like me with 2 passes, you get a bunch of self contacts… no sexual jokes please).

This year’s theme was AI. I was hired on by one of the major partners to cover their conferences, workshops, speeches, staff, and also get a few images of “The C2 Life”, mostly in a lifestyle natural way. One of those great contracts where the client says “I love your style, just do you thing”. As they wanted to feed their socials and content with images quickly, I was also editing on site and submitting photos as the day went on, and also covering their dinner on Thursday night. A hectic, but fun schedule.   As pot culture is growing (pun totally intended), this year’s main speaker was none other than the High Rolling Businessman himself, Snoop Dogg.  He did draw a huge crowd, and any successful event needs a major name that people want to hear speak, or just to see and be around.  He was not part of my required coverage, but you can still see a photo of Snoop on stage towards the bottom of the image list.

A few images below of the C2MTL event.

And as promised, here is my Snoop Dogg on stage image.  Granted, it is not from C2 MTL, this is from when he went around as Snoop Lion back at Osheaga back in 2012 or so 😀
