The Chainsmokers | Bell Centre | Montreal Concert Photographer

The pop EDM duo The Chainsmokers seem to come to the city at least once a year, and each and every time, the place is turned into a party. From headlining IleSoniq last year, a sold out show in 2017, The Chainsmokers were back at the Bell Centre for their World War Joy tour.

The Chainsmokers have a recipe that is a bit different from most groups. You get the drops and beats of EDM – and for photographers you get the cryo blasts and artists behind a dj table – but you also get some more pop influenced moments like when the band brought out opener Lennon Stella for a duet.

Unlike last time where we were given pit access, it was deemed too dangerous due to the pyro to allow us up front so we had to photograph from way back at the soundboard. “You get the best shots from the back”. Nope. 99% of the time I’ll take a pit over a soundboard shoot. I would of loved the same access when I photographed them on the main stage at IleSoniq 2016 (see image below), but hey, we make due with what we are given.

Shots were done using a mix of the Sigma 120-300 and the Canon 24-70. Loving this combo for soundboard shoots.

Photos of The Chainsmokers last night were done for Virgin Radio Montreal and iHeartradio.ca … you can check out the full media gallery HERE.

Below are some of my faves and a few exclusive black and whites.
