He doesn’t often come to Montreal, but when he does, Beck knows how to bring the groove (well, technically he was in Laval, but close enough). How do you define Beck? Singer, songwriter, sometimes producer, once rapper, rocker, dude who plays every instrument? Either way, the guy is talented and what I personally love about him, he does his own thing.
Quick fact for locals… the first song every played on 99.9 the Buzz was Beck’s Where It’s At back in 1996, which was the last time I saw Beck in his own show, at Le Spectrum on his Odelay tour. He has since come back a few times with one massive show in 2005 at the Bell Centre and the rest, mostly at smaller more intimate theatres like St-Denis and Place des Arts.
We had our standard 3 song rule, this time from back at the soundboard. But the 20 year old Pierre was psyched that the two first songs were older hits, namely Devils Haircut and The New Pollution. Artists typically keep bigger hits for later on in the show, so this was an added bonus.
