I think this is my 6th or 7th year photographing the zombie walk. It has grown from a small collection of 30-50 zombies to a hell of a lot more. The meeting point has changed from Mont-Royal metro to the Quartier des Spectacles and this year had a full stage with music, games and even a Humans vs Zombies wrestling match, with full ring. But I think the thing that has grown the most is the number of photographers at the event. You pretty much need to walk around trying to find the zombies through the masses of ipads and selfie sticks, and get your patience ready as you will be bumped and shoved.
But as with every year, Montrealers are just amazing in how they come out with their makeup and masks, many of which stay in character the whole time.
I left before the actual walk through the streets, as I find it is way too filled with people to get some fun images. I always prefer the few hours before the walk where you can get a few up close shots of the makeup people spent hours putting on.
Here is my small collection of images, sad that I can’t photograph everyone there.
