Discovering Montreal – La Nuit Blanche | Montreal Event Photographer

Montreal en Lumiere Nuit Blanche Pierre Bourgault

People who visit Montreal in the summer fall in love. Music festivals, eating outdoors, food trucks, loads of sunny day activities and so much more. People who visit Montreal in the winter wonder why the hell we Montrealers live here.

One of the highlights of the winter time is La Nuit Blanche. In the cold of winter, the city stays open into the wee hours of the morning. Restaurants, museums, underground art installations, a giant ferris wheel and ziplining right smack downtown.  The city really comes alive under the night sky.

Parents bring their kids. Young adults prepare to roam the sites until they can get a breakfast at 6am. It really is something you need to live at least once… or as most Montrealers are lucky to do, every year 🙂

I have been to La Nuit Blanche 4-5 times in the past, but this time, I was hired by the city of Montreal to photograph the festivities. We had one of the coldest winters in many decades, but thankfully, the weather let up a bit. While I love shooting outdoors, doing so in cold weather with a nasty wind freezing the snot to your face isn’t fun.

Here is a little collection of images of what the cool kids were doing (get it? Cool…winter…cold… haha… sigh)
